CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago-based social services organization devoted to children is celebrating a new era.

UCAN opened the doors to its new headquarters at 3605 West Fillmore Street in the North Lawndale neighborhood on Thursday.

The group provides services to at-risk children, many of whom are in the state's welfare or foster care system.

The new $12 million Nichols Center is the administrative home for UCAN.

"It's a resource that will enable UCAN to become an even more visible community-based asset from where we'll offer an array of services and supports to youth and family where they live," said Zack Schrantz, UCAN president and CEO.

The new facility is part of $46 million campus that includes a group home, classrooms and athletic facilities.
