CPS half finished with testing schools for lead

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago Public Schools is more than halfway done with testing for lead in the water.

So far, the district has found that 179 water fountains and faucets have high levels.

CPS has started work on eliminating the lead in those water sources.

Experts have said that while the lead levels are relatively low, there is still work to be done.

Just over 200 campuses still must be tested. Those results are due back by the end of October.
