Robbers armed with semi-automatic handguns targeting victims in South Austin neighborhood

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police have issued a community alert after a pair of robberies in the South Austin neighborhood involving men armed with semi-automatic handguns.

During the robberies, a maroon vehicle pulled up next to the victim and three armed men jumped out and rob the victims, police said. They then fled in the vehicle.

The robberies both occurred on Thursday, on at 1:25 a.m. in the 100-block of South Lotus and another in the first block of North Mayfield at 1:40 a.m.

Police are looking for four suspects involved in the crimes. Anyone with information is asked to contact Area North detectives at (312) 744-8263.
