Metra to begin running express trains on Rock Island Line Monday

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Starting Monday, Metra riders on the Rock Island Line will have the option of catching a midday express train to cut their commute time to the loop by up to 20 minutes.

Metra will run three inbound and two outbound express trains on the line daily for the next six months. Trains will run express between Blue Island and the LaSalle Street Station, with flag stop access to 35th Street.

If successful, the service could become permanent.
