Woman fatally shot on Near West Side

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 22-year-old woman was fatally shot on Chicago's Near West Side, near the United Center.

She was sitting in a vehicle at a stop sign at West Adams Street and South Oakley Boulevard around 10 p.m. Wednesday, when police said a black, four-door Hyundai pulled up next to her. A male suspect got out, fired shots and ran away as the Hyundai sped off.

The woman was shot twice in the chest. She was rushed to Mount Sinai Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. The victim's identity has not been released.

No one is in custody. Area Central detectives are investigating.
