Charges filed in Buffalo Grove home invasion, stabbing

BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. (WLS) -- Charges were filed Friday in the Buffalo Grove home invasion that left four people and a dog stabbed.

Jacob Beeman, 29, of Arkdale, Wisconsin has been charged with attempted first degree murder, home invasion and aggravated animal cruelty.

Police said they received a 911 call about two masked men breaking into a home in the 400-block of St. Mary's Parkway from someone inside the house on Wednesday. Responding officers found two people with stab wounds outside the home, the front door forced open and several broken windows.

Three people were taken into custody after four people and a dog were stabbed during a home invasion in northwest suburban Buffalo Grove.

The 47-year-old male owner of the home was stabbed several times with a large hunting knife, police said. Two other male residents and a female resident, as well as the family's German shepherd, were also stabbed. A fifth person in the home was not harmed.

Officials originally said victims reported two offenders at the scene, but police said that Beeman was the only offender to enter the home and attack the occupants. Another person was seen outside by the victims, but investigators have not identified that person yet.

Investigators said they have been working around the clock on the case and the investigation has been intense. The Cook County State's Attorney's office approved the initial charges, but it is likely additional charges will be filed against Beeman at a later time, police said.

The Buffalo Grove Police Department reiterated that this was not a random act and that there is no threat to the community. Beeman believed there was a quantity of cash and drugs at the home, but it is unknown why Beeman believed this to be true, police said.

Investigators said Beeman is wanted in Wisconsin by the Department of Corrections for charges relating to a peace officer.

Beeman is expected to appear in bond court Friday in the Rolling Meadows Court House.
