ROSEMONT, Ill. (WLS) -- The largest Muslim gathering is the United States and Canada is taking place this weekend in suburban Rosemont.

The Islamic Society of North America's annual convention will attract 15,000 attendants.

This year's gathering will focus largely on the issues facing millions of Muslims in the current political climate.

"It's a discussion of where we fit into the American tapestry and how we can help form a more perfect union," said Hazem Bata of the ISNA.

Among the speakers Saturday will be Khizr and Ghazala Khan, the Gold Star parents of a soldier who died fighting in Iraq.

The Khan's were critiqued by presidential candidate Donald Trump after their appearance at the Democratic National Convention.
