MOKENA, Ill. (WLS) -- A 20-year-old male pedestrian was severely injured in a hit-and-run crash in southwest suburban Mokena early Friday morning, police said. The driver was allegedly involved in a second hit-and-run after feeling the scene of the first.

Officers responded just before 3:35 a.m. Friday to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian and a white SUV in the 11200-block of 193rd Street.

The driver allegedly fled west, struck another vehicle on I-80 near Richards Street in nearby Joliet and took off. Police found the driver a short time later and apprehended him. It is unclear whether anyone was hurt in the second collision.

The 20-year-old pedestrian was rushed to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox and later transferred to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, police said.

The driver remains in custody. Mokena police reached out to the Will County Sheriff's Office. Charges have not yet been filed. The investigation is ongoing.
