Group of teen robbers attack CTA Blue Line riders on West Side, police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago police issued a warning for CTA Blue Line commuters about a series of robberies near West Side L stops.

There were five holdups at the end of August and the beginning of September, police said. Three of those incidents occurred on Homan Avenue.

In each case, four boys between the ages of 10 and 18 approached the victims, struck them and stole their property. One of the attacks happened on a train.

Here's a list of where and when the robberies occurred:

-in the 600-block of South Homan Avenue on Aug. 22 at 12:45 pm.

-at 530 South Kedzie Avenue on Aug. 22 at 10:30 pm.

-at 530 South Homan Avenue on Aug. 31 at 9:30 pm.

-at 532 South Homan Avenue on Sept. 1 at 1:40 pm.

-at 555 South Pulaski Road on Sept. 3 at 4:54 pm.

Police also released descriptions of each suspect:

-African American boy, between 13 and 15 years old, about 5 ft. 4 in. tall, weighs around 125 pounds

-African American boy, between 15 and 16 years old, about 5 ft. 8 in. tall, weighs around 150 pound, had dreadlocks

-African American boy, between 14 and 18 years old, between 5 ft. and 5 ft. 5 in. tall, had a fade

-African American boy, between 10 and 13 years old, between 5 ft. 1 in. and 5 ft. 3 in. tall, had braids

Police urge CTA riders to be aware of their surroundings, report suspicious activity, to remain calm if attacked and to never chase after their attacker.
