Work begins on new road to connect Loop with Chinatown

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Work is underway to create a more direct link between the Loop and Chinatown.

Phase one is underway on a new roadway between the southern end of South Wells Street and West Cermak Road. It will include wider sidewalks and a buffered bike lane.

The project will also improve access to Ping Tom Memorial Park.

The first phase of the project is expected to wrap up next June.
