Teen critically injured in South Austin shooting

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 17-year-old boy was shot and critically injured just after 4 p.m. Monday in Chicago's South Austin neighborhood, police said.

Police said the teen was walking along the street in the 200-block of South Central Avenue when shots were fired from a passing car. The boy was shot in the chest, leg and arm, according to police.

Police said the boy transported himself to West Suburban Hospital in critical condition. Police are investigating the shooting, and said the victim is a documented gang member.
