Gary teachers' paychecks delayed, district cites lack of money

GARY, Ind. (WLS) -- Teachers in Gary received a letter on Friday informing them that their paychecks would be delayed.

Gary Community School Corporation employees were told that paychecks would go out Tuesday instead of Friday.

"Paychecks will not go out on Friday as anticipated. We are writing to all employees to apologize for this inconvenience. Instead of being issued on Friday, November 11, 2016, all paychecks will go out on Tuesday, November 15, 2016," said the letter.

The district apologized, citing a lack of money on hand to pay employees.
