ISP investigates reported abduction
Illinois State Police opened an investigation Tuesday into a reported abduction and sexual assault.

BERWYN, Ill. (WLS) -- A man was arrested and released Tuesday after a woman's call to 911 for help led to a massive police response on the Stevenson Expressway.

Illinois State Police were investigating an abduction and sexual assault that occurred around 2 a.m. in Dwight, Ill., which is about 80 miles southwest of Chicago.

The woman claimed to have been abducted and said she was being driven northbound on I-55, according to a source close to the investigation. She gave police a description of the car and stayed on the phone with them.

A state trooper out of southwest suburban Joliet spotted the car near County Line Road and followed, calling for backup, state police said.

Troopers stopped the car on I-55 near Harlem Avenue and took the alleged attacker into custody, ISP said. The victim was taken to MacNeal Hospital in west suburban Berwyn.

The relationship between the victim and the attacker is unknown.

The man was charged with traffic-related offenses.
