Chicago Weather: Near-record high temps Thursday, flurries over weekend
CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Chicago area will see a swing in temperatures over the next few days, with near-record-high warmth ahead of a temperature drop and possible flurries over the weekend.
The city and suburbs saw highs in the low 70s on Thursday, nearly breaking the record for Nov. 17, which stands at 74 degrees.

The streak of mild weather doesn't happen very often this late in November, but then again, there's nothing normal about the weather this fall.
So far, we are running 8.6 degrees above average for the month. No one was complaining at Maggie Daley Park Thursday.
"Amazing! We are not stuck inside, just bored out of our minds. This is actually one of our favorite parks so it's amazing to be out here in mid-November," said Renee Calzaratta.
"It's a beautiful day. One of the last nice days of the year. Got to get outside and enjoy it. Beautiful Chicago," said Ricardo Vazquez.
Emma Valine and her family just moved here from Texas.
"We used the nice weather to go buy hats and gloves because we are not prepared yet," she said.
Prepared or not, the cold is coming this weekend. And just around the corner is the snow. We are expecting more snow than last winter.
Last year, we saw just over 31 inches. The average seasonal snowfall is 36 inches. This year, we may end up with more than that.
The mild weather will stick around for most of the day Friday with highs in the 60s, before temperatures drop to the 50s and evening rain moves in.
People will want to dig their warm jackets out of the closet for the weekend. A few flurries are possible Saturday morning. The day will be blustery and cold, with highs in the 40s.
The cold will continue Sunday, with highs only expected to reach the upper 30s.
