A boy is hospitalized after being attacked by a pit bull in Wilmington, Delaware.

WILMINGTON, Del. -- A boy is hospitalized after being attacked by a pit bull in Wilmington, Delaware.

It happened just before 7 p.m. Wednesday along the 2700 block of North Washington Street.

The boy, believed to be between the ages of 12 and 14, reportedly suffered wounds to both legs.

He was rushed to A.I. DuPont Hospital for care. No word on his condition.

A responding officer shot and killed the dog.

An animal welfare officer also responded to the scene to assist in the investigation.
