Celebration honors Asian American, Pacific Islander heritage

CHICAGO (WLS) -- May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Friday's celebration included music and dance at the Thompson Center.

The event was called "Gateway to Success" and featured awards presented to people and organizations who have contributed opportunities in the Asian American and Pacific Islander community.

ABC 7's Eric Horng was the emcee for Friday's event.

The celebration was highlighted by various cultural performances.
