Ja'Mal Green talks fundraising for a new community center at W 79th St. and Ashland Ave.

CHICAGO -- Ja'Mal Green, 21-year-old activist and entrepreneur, visited WCL Wednesday to discuss his plans for a new community center at West 79th Street and South Ashland Avenue. He hopes to use the center as a place to teach kids how to channel their creativity and become financially literate.

Born and raised in Chicago's Auburn Gresham neighborhood, Green saw the problems that plague our city, like violence, politics and hopelessness, and he decided to do something about it. Green is a vocal activist, who worked for Bernie Sanders' presidential campaign and has appeared on news shows and panels on CNN, MSNBC, FOX News, ABC, CBS and BBC. Green has also decided to help others be the best selves they can be by becoming a mentor to kids in gangs, those with mental health issues or have no focus in life.
