CHICAGO (WLS) -- Two men were killed by police in separate shootings on Chicago's South and West sides. Roshad McIntosh, 19, was fatally shot by police in the North Lawndale neighborhood.

A man was fatally shot after he pointed a gun at officers in the 2800-block of West Polk Street just before 7:30 p.m. Sunday, according to Fraternal Order of Police spokesman Pat Camden.

Police responded to a complaint of armed men near South California Avenue and West Polk Street Chicago's East Garfield Park neighborhood. When officers approached the men, the FOP said one ran into a gangway and pulled a gun from his waistband. When he was told to drop the weapon, officers said the suspect got into an elevated position and pointed the gun at the officer.

"One officer is chasing him going up the stairs, gets to the top of the stairs, turns and points a 9 millimeter at the officer," Camden said. "At that point the officer fired, defending himself."

Officers shot the man. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man on Monday as 19-year-old Roshad McIntosh of Chicago.

A weapon was found at the scene. No officers were injured.

In a separate police-involved shooting, officer fatally shot a man shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday in Chicago's Chatham neighborhood.

Police said officers on foot patrol saw two men shooting at each other in the 900-block of East 80th Street. One of the men and two other people - a male and female - were shot.

Authorities said when the officers went to investigate one armed man pointed a gun at them. He was ordered to drop his weapon. Police said when he refused, the officer shot him.

The injured man and the woman were taken to a local hospital, where both were listed in good condition. The other injured man was shot in the head. His condition is unknown.

The Independent Police Review Authority is investigating both shootings.
