4-year-old accidentally shot and killed in Crown Point, Indiana

CROWN POINT, Ind. (WLS) -- Authorities in Crown Point, Indiana, have confirmed that a 4-year-old child died of a gunshot wound on Saturday afternoon.

The boy is identified as Eric Cole, a resident of Wheatfield, Indiana.

Police say he died at his babysitter's home on the 7700-block of East 120th Avenue in Crown Point.

Police say he found a handgun in a case under a bed in an upstairs bedroom and apparently shot himself.

The case is being investigated as an accident.
