People's Gas bills set to rise in February

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Gas bills are going up in February for People's Gas customers.

The Illinois Commerce Commission today approved a $75 million rate increase for the utility. It could add an estimated $2.70 - $2.75 a month to the average homeowner's bill.

The ICC also approved a $3.7 million increase for North Shore Gas. Customers could pay an estimated $1.05 - $1.10 per month.

The Citizens Utility Board plans to file a petition for a re-hearing to challenge portions of the rate increases.
