CHICAGO (WLS) -- People may soon be able to visit loved ones locked up in Cook County Jail without stepping foot outside of their homes.

The Cook County Sheriff's Office says it's considering video visitation. Officials say it would cut back on visitor travel costs to the jail and reduce overtime for jail officers.

The video visitation would be in addition to the current on-site visitation services the jail already provides.
