Police warn of armed robberies in Austin

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Police are warning residents in Chicago's Austin neighborhood of four victims robbed at gunpoint in the last month.

In each incident, police said one or two men with a dark-colored handgun demanded property from victims.

One victim was robbed in the 700-block of North Central Avenue just after 10 p.m. on Jan. 31, another was robbed in the 600-block of North Mayfield Avenue around 7:10 p.m. on Feb. 10, a third victim was robbed in the 5500-block of West Huron Street just before 4 p.m. on Feb. 14 and another was robbed in the 5700-block of West Ohio Street around 11:45 p.m. Sunday.

Police described the suspects as African American men in their late teen or early twenties with medium-dark complexions. One man was between 5 ft. 9in. and 6 ft. tall and the other was between 5 ft. 5 in. and 5 ft. 10 in. tall.
