The FBI is assisting Chicago police in the search for a missing man who was last seen at a Jewel-Osco in Lincoln Park.

Police said Uruistigue, who lives in Lawndale, told friends he was leaving the Jewel-Osco around 9 p.m.

"He was last wearing a black shirt with red stripes, blue denim, slightly distressed, and black and red Jordan shoes," said his sister Michelle Uriostigue. He stands 5 ft. 8 in. tall and weighs about 165 lbs.

Relatives said Uriostigue used to work at the Jewel near Clybourn and Fullerton, and had friends there, but it's unclear why he might have gone there.

"I have faith in God that he's going to come back," his mother told ABC7 in Spanish, though her tearful embrace revealed her worry.

The FBI confirmed they are assisting in the investigation at the request of Chicago police, though they would not say what kind of help they are providing.

His family and friends said the sudden disappearance for a period of time is out of character.

"No, never. Never," Estrada said. "If he was going out, he would tell someone."

Friends and family have been going around the neighborhood asking people to check their surveillance video in hopes he was captured on camera somewhere. Uriostigue is described by relatives as very responsible, who said he was working two jobs to save money for college.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the special victims hotline at 312-744-8266 or the Lincoln UMC at 773-847-7282.
