A character-building event geared toward young men of color took place on Chicago's North Side Saturday.

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A character-building event geared toward young men of color took place on Chicago's North Side Saturday.

Francis W. Parker School's Young Men of Color Symposium is a leadership conference for students in sixth through 12th grade.

The program was founded by Dwight Vidale, who hosts the same symposium in New York City.

Actor Hill Harper was Saturday's keynote speaker at the event in Lincoln Park.
