CHICAGO (WLS) -- Some Chicago area parents are upset about Gov. Bruce Rauner's budget plan, saying it will eliminate preschool funding, for kids dealing with specific medical conditions.

The Children's Place Association serves 73 Chicago-area toddlers, some of whom struggle with HIV and AIDS. Parents want the governor to visit the facility before cutting the funding.

The governor's office released a statement to Eyewitness News on Monday saying:

"The last three administrations have sought to reduce funding to Children's Place. Instead of focusing on a specific preschool, Governor Rauner's budget increases overall funding to early-childhood education by $25 million, while protecting services for families impacted by HIV/AIDS."
