CHICAGO (WLS) -- Two Chicago police officers and a firefighter suffered minor smoke inhalation while searching a home that caught fire in the city's West Pullman neighborhood.

The officers, who are in their 30s, searched a house in the 12400-block of South State Street around 4 a.m. Thursday after a neighbor reported seeing smoke.

Police said after the officers breathed in too much smoke, they were taken to MetroSouth Medical Center as a precaution. They are expected to be OK.

The fire was extinguished in less than an hour. The firefighter was treated at the scene.

The home was empty.
