Second City reopens Thursday with special tribute to fire department

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Second City will reopen their Mainstage Theater on Thursday, about three weeks after a fire destroyed parts of the Old Town venue.

A theater will give a special performance for the Chicago Fire Department, and then continuing their regular performance schedule through the weekend.

UP Comedy Club will begin performances on September 22 and the Second City e.t.c.'s "Soul Brother, Where Art Thou?" will begin performances on September 24.

Tickets for all performances will be available at www.SecondCity.com and www.UPComedyClub.com.

Comedy classes will continue to be held at Tribeca Flashpoint College, Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago and Columbia College until further notice.

Second City will collect contributions after all performances through the end of the month for the Chicago Fire Department Gold Badge Society, which serves widowed and families of firefighters and paramedics.
