Lockdown lifted at Evanston high school
A lockdown has been lifted at Evanston Township High School as police continue to investigate a shooting in the area.

EVANSTON, Ill. (WLS) -- A lockdown has been lifted at Evanston Township High School as police continue to investigate a shooting in the area.

Evanston police said a 45-year-old man was shot in the head around 5:22 p.m. Tuesday in the 1900-block of Emerson, two blocks from the high school. Police said the man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Cmdr. Joseph Dugan said the school was not involved in the shooting incident, and any police officers by the school are only there as a precautionary measure.

School officials said the activity does not involve anyone at the school, and no students were harmed.

Police said four male suspects fled westbound on foot. No one is in custody.
