Local group calls on US to allow 100,000 Syrian refugees into the country

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago group is calling for the end of the refugee crisis in Syria.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) wants federal and local governments to do more to help the refugees.

The group wants the United States to let at least 100,000 refugees into the country by the end of next year.

President Obama announced a plan last week to allow 10,000 Syrian refugees into the U.S.
