Amazon is now offering refunds for unauthorized in-app purchases made by children, the company announced Tuesday.
More than $70 million in in-app charges made between November 2011 and May 2016 may be eligible for refunds.
Amazon has emailed consumers it believes are eligible for the refunds. Anyone who believes they are eligible for a refund can go to https://www.amazon.com/gp/mas/refund-orders/in-apprefund, log into their Amazon account, go to Message Center to find information about requesting a refund under Important Messages.
Amazon says it is not necessary to call Amazon or send anything by mail and that refund requests can be processed entirely online. Anyone with questions about refunds can call Amazon at 866-216-1072.
The deadline for submitting a refund request is May 28, 2018.
