State police to crack down on illegal use of accessible parking spots

SPRINGFIELD (WLS) -- Holiday shoppers in Illinois will be subject to a crackdown on those who illegally park in spots reserved for the disabled.

Violators will be fined $350. Drivers caught using a fraudulent disability placard will be fined $2,500 and could have their driver's license suspended for a year.

State police will be in parking lots at shopping malls throughout the state starting on Black Friday.
