ALGONQUIN, Ill. (WLS) -- A suspect has been arrested in Colorado in connection with the deaths of an elderly couple in Algonquin, Illinois, police said Monday.

Algonquin police officers conducted a well-being check in the 600-block of Red Coach Lane at about 6 p.m. on Sunday and discovered two people,73-year-old Leonard Gilard and 69-year-old Noreen Gilard, dead. They had been stabbed to death.

Police have charged 39-year-old Arin Fox in the murders. They said she stole the couple's car and drove to Colorado, where she was arrested Sunday night.

Fox lived in the home with the victims but is not believed to be a family relation to them, police said.

"It's really tragic, because our neighbors just moved in two weeks ago and said, I thought this was a quiet area? And I said it is, it is normally," said neighbor Margaret Gittings.

Police said they believe the murders happened Friday, sometime after officers were called to the Gillards' home for a domestic incident that involved Fox. Algonquin Police Department call logs show police have been to the home 13 times for a variety of issues.

"There was something going on here with that girl," Gittings said.

Police said Fox knew the couple through their adult son, who no longer lives with them. She had been staying with them for months.

Neighbors said Noreen Gilard was wheelchair bound, and dealing with major health issues which is why friends and family called 911 after they did not hear from the couple.

Fox is being charged with four counts of first degree murder, two counts of possession of a stolen motor vehicle, one count of aggravated battery and one count of domestic battery.

Neighbors call the Gilards a nice quiet couple that have lived in this area for decades and kept to themselves.

"Her and I used to work together many years ago," Gittings said. "She was always nice, happy go lucky, and knew most of the neighbors. The neighbors knew her."
