BELLWOOD, Il. (WLS) -- A boil order was issued Saturday for the Village of Bellwood due to a water main break impacted at least half the town, officials said in a release.
Water service was later restored, but the boil order will remain in place until Tuesday, when water samples collected from around the village can be tested, officials said.
Freezing impacted the village's water tower system and two water main breaks amid extremely cold weather, officials said. Repairs are underway at both locations.

The precautionary order is in place for all residents, including those with water service.
The order means that all water is used for drinking or cooking needs to be boiled before use. Water used for bathing does not need to be boiled.
