That was the case for Maddy Oliver. She was just 17 when she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a malignant sarcoma of the bone that has one of the lowest survival rates for pediatric cancers.
But thanks to a clinical trial funded by the Schaumburg based nonprofit, Gateway for Cancer Research, Oliver is now cancer free and living a normal healthy life.
Oliver and Michael Burton, the chief development officer from Gateway for Cancer Research, stopped by ABC 7 Chicago to talk about how the clinical trials are helping.
