CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago celebrated 100 years of service on Monday.

Catholic Charities began on April 10, 1917 when Cardinal Mundelein called together a group of prominent businessmen to raise funds for the Church.

The agency is the largest Catholic Charities in the country, helping nearly a million people in Cook and Lake counties each year with things like housing, food, child development and immigration and refugee support.
