Voters took advantage of the city holiday, the good weather and having polling places now open in every ward.

"I work for the city, it's a holiday so I could come and I'm off today, so it's easy," voter David Guillams said.
With the election now just two weeks away, there seems to be significant interest driven by the race for mayor with nine candidates on the ballot.
As of Sunday night, 41,845 votes had been cast, far outpacing this point four years ago, when only 2,452 people had early voted.
The Chicago Board of Elections says typical turnout for municipal elections is around 35 or 36%, so this year's early totals are very encouraging.
"With this turnout so far, if it keeps up, we're looking that we might get into the 40%," said Max Bever, Chicago Board of Elections. "We might get that 2011 42% turnout or even higher. Maybe we can get to that midterm average of around 46%."
The vast majority of the early voting is being driven by mail-in ballots, a sign that voters are becoming much more comfortable with casting ballots that way.
People who do want to vote early can now go to any polling place they want, whatever is most convenient for them. And the Board of Elections is encouraging voters to take advantage of this opportunity.
And another alderman who supported Mayor Lori Lightfoot four years ago is now endorsing Paul Vallas.
"The city's been heading in the wrong direction, and I think it's time for us to get a problem solver on the 5th floor of City Hall," said Ald. Brendan Reilly, 42nd Ward. "We're at a crossroads as a city and we need some real solutions, and I think Paul Vallas has proven leadership."
People will also decide who will represent their ward as alderperson, among other local races.
People can vote at any early voting site in Chicago, no matter where they live in the city. You can also drop off your vote-by-mail ballot at any ward site.
