CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago mechanics will head back to the bargaining table on Monday in an effort to reach a contract deal that would get them back to work.

About 2,000 workers went on strike last week at 130 new car dealerships across the Chicago area.

The Automobile Mechanics' Local 701 and the Chicago Automobile Trade Association are negotiating several issues, including higher pay.

The previous four-year contract expired on July 31. The two sides began contract negotiations in June of this year.
