According to Illinois State Police, Norfolk Southern Railroad police officers said they began to pursue a Dodge pickup truck on southbound I-94 near 79th Street that was wanted in connection to a previous incident.

During the pursuit, state police said a minivan became involved in the incident and crashed at a gas station on Sibley west of I-94 in south suburban Dolton.

State police said the drive and sole occupant of the minivan fled on foot after the crash and allegedly carjacked a Jeep on the northbound ramp from I-94 to westbound Sibley Avenue. The abandoned Jeep was recovered later by the Chicago Police Department.

The Dodge pickup truck continued to be pursued by NSRPD into East Chicago, Indiana, where it crashed. Both occupants were taken into custody, ISP said.
No injuries were reported. Illinois State Police were not involved in any of the pursuits.
ISP's Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 is investigating the alleged carjacking that took place on the ramp from I-94 to Sibley Avenue. No suspect is in custody in that incident.
