CHICAGO (WLS) -- Carjacking suspects were arrested after a Chicago police officer was hit by a vehicle following a shooting, an alderman said.
The CPD officer officer was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition after being struck near West 57th Street and South Damen Avenue in Chicago's West Englewood neighborhood, the Chicago Fire Department said.

Police are gathering evidence at multiple crime scenes, according to 15th Ward Alderman Raymond Lopez, who was blocks from the scene and has been speaking with police for the past couple hours. He said this began as a shooting near West 51st Street and South Elizabeth Street by a school in Back of the Yards.
"They got out on a foot chase, and then when they went from the foot chase they went from running in each everyone's backyard including my grandma's, and then the police pulled them out," said Asjai Williams, a West Englewood resident.

Police pursued multiple suspects from that shooting 1.5 miles from the scene in West Englewood, where a dark-colored hatchback crashed into a tree. Lopez said an individual was arrested at that scene, but two other suspects fled and ended up carjacking a driver a block or so from there. They stole a dark-colored SUV from a resident.
Police chased and eventually arrested the suspects at the edge of the Dan Ryan woods.
