CHICAGO (WLS) -- The family of Jessica Hudson has been trying to piece together the last moments of her life.

The 21-year-old was among the great-grandchildren helping out at what the family refers to as "Granny's home" in Auburn Gresham. After the 100-year-old matriarch had some health issues, relatives took turns helping at the house.

Hudson's cousin was at the home on Wednesday afternoon. Wesley Metcalf said Hudson had taken an air conditioning wall unit to the garage about 20 minutes before they both heard a loud noise in the back. Hudson was first to go out the back door.

Metcalf is a former paramedic and has been called to many crime scenes. Metcalf said Hudson was shot 11 times when two offenders ran out of the garage and fired at Hudson.

Hudson went to school in the suburbs. Her mother moved the family away from Chicago to keep her kids safe. She says the only reason Hudson came to neighborhood recently was to help "Granny."

Chicago police are investigating, but at this point, they have not established a motive and do not have any suspects.
