Boy, 3, hurt in Calumet Heights neighborhood shooting, Chicago police say

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A 3-year-old boy was shot while inside a home in the city's Calumet Heights neighborhood Saturday morning, according to the Chicago Police Department.

He's just one victim is what's shaping out to be a violent start to the last weekend of summer.

The young boy was shot in the back while inside the home in the 9300-block of South Escanaba at around 10:45 a.m., according to police.

Detectives could be seen going in and out of the home, and placing crime tape up.

The child was taken to Trinity Hospital, and later transferred to Comer Children's Hospital, police said.

The circumstances surrounding what led up to the boy being shot are still being investigated. Detectives are interviewing everyone who was inside the home at the time of the incident.



No one is in custody.
