CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man was rushed to the hospital after being shot through the front window of a home in the Morgan Park neighborhood on Monday night.

The shooting happened just after 8 p.m. ABC7 spoke with neighbors who were home when it happened.

"All of a sudden, all you heard was 'pow, pow, pow, pow,'" said neighbor Juanita Boid.

Two bullet holes remained in the glass on Tuesday as contractors replaced the front window of the home in the 11400 block of South Elizabeth Street.

Boid said she was warming up dinner when she heard the gunfire.

"At least about 15-20 shots. And it wasn't like no 357 or 380. It was some shots. Ain't no telling what these young kids out here have these days," Boid said.

Boid lives just down the street from the home where a 57-year-old man was shot in his arm. Police said the bullets pierced the front window and hit the man when he was standing in the living room.

ABC7 talked to the victim's sister. She declined to go on camera, but said she doesn't believe her brother was targeted. Chicago police could not confirm that on Tuesday.

"It's scary. Because when you're at home, you're thinking you're at home, you have peace. If you don't have peace nowhere else, you should have peace when you're at home," Boid said.

The man shot was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital in critical condition.

ABC7 is told the family was already dealing with the loss of a loved one, unrelated to the shooting, when this happened.

"I just hope that God takes care of this family and just gives them the healing and the comfort that they need, because again, they already lost a loved one, you know?" Boid said.

At this point, no arrests have been made. Area Two detectives are investigating.
