Neighbors said they saw teenagers jumping over the fence as they tried to run from gunshots at a garage party. Police said someone opened fire around 11:40 p.m., leaving Ruby Navarrete, a 15-year-old girl from Cicero, and Lynner Hawkins, a 44-year-old man from Gary, dead.
The party, which was advertised on social media, attracted dozens of people from all over the area. Cell phone video taken by a woman who was there shows people dancing in the moments before the shooting began outside.

While she was afraid to speak on camera, the woman said at some point the partygoers were told by the organizer to stay inside, but then the gunfire erupted and the crowd began trying to escape through the only door available.
A sign still placed on the door Monday morning reads in part "All persons entering this club are subject to search. Guns and weapons are not allowed."
A 39-year-old man was also injured during the shooting. Police are still investigating and no one is in custody as of yet.
