The group of about 100 people was led by Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin and Reverend Ira Acree.
They said the South and West Side neighborhoods are struggling and need help and answers.
The group headed inside City Hall to deliver a letter to Mayor Rahm Emanuel. The letter asked for answers to several questions, including what the city's plan is to reduce African-American unemployment and what the city will do to reduce gun violence.
ABC7 reached out to the mayor's office for a response to the protest, but we have not yet heard back.
