CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Chicago Police Department gave an update Thursday on their efforts to add nearly 1,000 new officers to the force.

Deborah Farmer, head of recruitment for the Chicago police exam, joined ABC7 News This Morning to talk about where the CPD stands on its hiring plan and the aim to make the department more diverse.

The application deadline is Oct. 16.
