Retired service dog rescued from icy pond

CROWN POINT, Ind. (WLS) -- A retired service dog was rescued from an icy pond in Crown Point, Ind., Friday.

The dog, named Chaquita, had fallen through the ice and started to go under. Firefighters were able to pull her out and brought her to a veterinary clinic.

Chaquita's owner was called after her microchip was scanned.

The retired service dog is expected to be okay
