2 families displaced, cat missing after Elmwood Park apartment building fire

ELMWOOD PARK, Ill. (WLS) -- Two families were displaced and a cat is missing after an apartment building fire broke out in the west suburbs Thursday afternoon.

Elmwood Park firefighters responded about 3:45 p.m. to the 2600-block of North 72nd Court for a reported blaze in a three-flat building.


Chopper 7 captured large flames shooting out the roof of the building just after 4 p.m.

Firefighters could be seen on top of the roof and on ladders nearby, trying to strike out the blaze.


Two families were displaced, and a cat is unaccounted for, officials said.

No one was injured in the incident.
