Yu said, "My goal was to launch this new primetime newscast on WCIU and help it find an audience; I think our team has accomplished that. Knowing the newscast will be in good hands with Cheryl Burton, I now have the luxury of a little more time to work on writing my 2nd book while pursuing other interests."
Yu recently published her first book/memoir, Lessons I Learned in America, written in Chinese, as a guide to help young Chinese women in the global workplace. Yu is about to sign a new book deal with a leading Chinese publisher to feature unique stories of prominent Asian woman entrepreneurs, political and cultural icons in the United States.
Cheryl Burton, a native Chicagoan and prominent contributor to ABC 7 Eyewitness News's success in the market, is expanding her role. According to Jennifer Graves, Vice President and News Director, "Linda has done a great job getting the 7 pm newscast established and I thank her for her effort. Like Linda, Cheryl Burton is one of the most recognizable and admired news anchors in Chicago and I have no doubt the audience will wish Linda well while welcoming another familiar face in Cheryl."
