1 in custody after 2 Chicago police officers injured in South Side crash

CHICAGO (WLS) -- A man was taken into custody after a crash involving a CPD squad car that injured two officers Monday night, Chicago police said.

The crash occurred at about 11:51 p.m. in the 8300-block of South Stony Island Avenue.



Police said the squad car was responding to a call with its lights activated when a silver sedan did not yield at an intersection, leading to a crash.

Two officers were transported to a hospital, where they were listed in good condition, police said.



No other injuries were reported. Police said a person was taken into custody and charges and citations are pending.
