2 Chicago police officers injured in South Side traffic stop

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Two Chicago police officers were injured during a traffic stop on the South Side Thursday night, police said.

The incident occurred at about 10:26 p.m. in the 9700-block of South Princeton Avenue.



Police said officers stopped a 22-year-old man who resisted arret, got back into his vehicle and attempted to get away.

The driver crashed his sedan into a ditch and police said he threatened and assaulted the officers before being taken into custody.



The two officers were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was transported to a hospital for observation and charges are pending.
